Chesterfield, IN – The town of Chesterfield has appointed a new Town Marshal. His qualifications and community policing approach will be a great asset to the police department in serving our community. The town administration welcomes Joey Cole and the experience he brings to serve the citizens of Chesterfield.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Major Joey Cole grew up in Markleville, Indiana and graduated from Pendleton Heights High School. Upon becoming a police officer he graduated from the Indiana law Enforcement Academy and attended Anderson University.
He has served over 30 years with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Responsibilities have included, Jail officer, Patrol Officer and the department’s first D.A.R.E. ( Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer working with the youth of the county.
He is a community-oriented person and has organized crime watch groups and worked with senior citizen safety programs.
He has also served the past 8 years has the Chief Deputy for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, supervising and working with various organizations and non- profit groups in creating a better quality of life.He is a member of the Madison County Shrine Club and the United Methodist Church. He has an open-door policy working with the community in resolving issues.
According to Chief Cole, his first order of business is to meet with officers getting input to better serve the community. He will be meeting with churches, businesses and as many citizens possible to get their ideas and concerns in order to build the best relationship the police department can have in coming years.
