In January, the Chesterfield Town Council approved the acquisition of 5 Street Dynamics Radar Speed Signs, destined for installation in different areas of Chesterfield, IN. These pole-mounted speed signs are easily movable, allowing flexibility across our community. Committed to enhancing safety, especially for children in our neighborhoods and parks, the Chesterfield Town Council and the Chesterfield Police Department emphasize the importance of this initiative.
Chief Cole expressed, “Having reviewed numerous case studies, it is evident that radar speed signs are highly effective in reducing traffic speed and promoting safer streets.” It’s crucial to note that these signs do not incorporate cameras and will not capture images of speeding motorists. Assistant Chief Painter highlighted their resemblance to the portable trailer currently deployed in various locations throughout our community.
The collaboration between the Chesterfield Town Council and the Chesterfield Police Department will play a pivotal role in identifying optimal locations for the installation of these speed control signs. Our aim is to have these signs operational by spring, contributing to a safer environment for all residents.
